Choose the Perfect Ceramic Pot for Your Orchids
For choosing the perfect pot for your Orchid, begin with choosing the right size. A medium-size plant usually requires a pot between 6-8 inches. After you have the right size, check the glaze of the pot. The pots with glaze usually have less porosity and hence have less air circulation.
If your plant needs more air circulation, then choose a ceramic pot with simple polish only. Determine the right pothole size depending upon the growth of your orchid.
They range from small size to a small orchid and vice versa. After keeping in consideration these features, select the perfect style and design to match your home décor. I usually prefer something minimal yet classy.

FAQs
Do orchids like ceramic pots?
Yes! Orchids absolutely love Ceramic Pots! This is because of the porous nature of the pot. In my opinion, it allows more air circulation and prevents root decay. Also, the design adds to overall aesthetic of the décor. You should always remain mindful of the tendency of pots to crack under extreme weather conditions such as harsh sunlight.
What kind of container is best for orchids?
In my opinion, plastic or terracotta pots work best for Orchids as necessary holes provide the right drainage and air circulation. For ceramic pots to work best, I like to add a plastic pot inside to help with repotting. You can always change according to personal preferences.
Do orchids like big or small pots?
The size of pot will depend upon the size of plant as well as the size of its roots. For example, Phalaenopsis mostly requires a medium size pot so that the roots are neither cramped nor there is excessive space for water to accumulate.
4. Do all orchids need clear pots?
Clear pots are not must but they can be useful in monitoring root growth and checking the possibility of an insect infection. They may develop problems when exposed to sun as they overheat and lead to algae infection in plants.
What are the disadvantages of ceramic pots?
I think ceramic pots are very heavy to move, and they require a lot of care while moving as they might break or creek if they fall. Another issue which arises is with their drainage holes. Some pots lack drainage holes, so you better be careful before buying them. You can use a plastic pot inside.
Summing Up
Orchids are low maintenance plants, and you can easily grow them indoors. Select the best pot, and focus on material, appeal, porosity and size. Make choices according to personal preferences and the plant needs.
I love ceramics because of their porosity and visual appeal. Use a plastic liner inside and they can be a great value addition to your pots collection.
